Here at The Good Shelf Company, we have been delivering the finest quality furniture to our customers since we were established in 1987.


Our small team of experts are committed to crafting and finishing furniture from new and reclaimed wood that can be used and admired by all in your home at our workshops based in Henley-on-Thames, UK.  


Every item is handmade and finished in a colour of your choice from start to finish by our skillful team of cabinetmakers and finishing experts, whose dedication is reflected in the detail of each finished piece.


Don't be fooled by our name...we sell all different types of furniture, whether you’re after a beautifully made, traditional old pine farmhouse table and chairs to accommodate the largest of family mealtimes, or a shoe bench and coat rack to solve all your hallway storage and clutter problems, we've got you covered with a range of different items that will add both character and timelessness to your home.


We don't just manufacture either, if you fancy a change to your current furniture we can also refurbish and refinish your current furniture, turning the “worn out” into a freshly “just delivered” piece of furniture.


Most of our products deliberately come in an extensive range of different sizes and finishes to cater for most customers needs. However, if you’re after something a little bit more special, just get in touch. Where possible, we’ll happily work alongside your specific requirements to create bespoke pieces that turn your furniture dreams into a reality.


Commercial and Trade

We currently also custom design and build exclusive furniture for physical shops, restaurants, and hotels from a variety of different timbers The strong demand for furniture' that look or are old has led us to use much salvaged and reclaimed timber. The richness of this material is difficult to replicate and fits in great with both new and old interiors.

We accept Credit/ Debit cards, PayPal, personal cheques, or direct bank transfers.


Delivery charges

Our post and packaging charges start at just, £3.95 depending on the size of the item(s). Shipping charges are displayed at the checkout once all of your items have been added to the basket. Collections are also available from our workshop near Henley-on-Thames, although please contact us first to let us know if you would like to collect.

Delivery times

All items are hand made to order and are not kept in stock. We aim to dispatch to you within 10 working days of your order, although it’s usually much sooner.

Once your order is completed and has been booked for dispatch you will receive an email from our courier with your tracking information.

We do not ordinarily send out status updates and ask that you please wait 10 working days from your purchase. But hey, please feel free to contact us, 01491 628596 or thegoodshelfcompany@gmail.com and we’ll give you an update and completion date.

Please be aware that tables, cupboards, dressers, bespoke items and very large orders can take a little longer to make so please expect a slightly longer delivery time frame.

Returns and Refunds

If you are not entirely satisfied with your order we will refund or exchange your item within 14 days of receipt.

We are sorry, but made-to-order goods are non-refundable unless faulty.

All returned items must be unused, in their original packaging and returned to us at our main address. We also advise obtaining proof of posting when returning items.

Buyers are eligible for meeting the cost of returning items to us.
